Free Hunting Map
Topo and aerial maps, public land, federal trails, categorized pins and trail camera views. Free, open source and usable without an account.

Public land and access
See public land by manager over topo, satellite or street maps. PAD-US helps you spot areas to research; Wisconsin parcels, PAD-US public-access classes, PLSS lines, water and Wisconsin deer units add context. The Layers panel groups datasets and offers opacity controls, legends and an active-layer list.
Public ownership does not establish hunting permission or a legal way in. Parcel coverage is Wisconsin-only. Check the managing agency before you go.
Find public hunting land
Organize pins and tracks
Drop pins for parking, stands, camp and sign. Add names and notes, draw a track, measure distance, or record a GPS track while you walk.
Organize pins and tracks into colored categories, show or hide items, and search names, notes, categories and camera details offline. Supported Google Takeout lists become categories.
Keep the app open when recording: mobile browsers can pause it in the background.
Organize and back up your map
Trail camera pins and view cones
Choose a Trail cam pin and adjust its field-of-view cone on the map. Drag the tip to change bearing and range, or the side handles to widen or narrow the angle. Numeric controls let you enter those values directly.
Save a camera model, date set, last-checked date and notes. The cone records your planned view; verify aim, obstructions and equipment rules at the site.
Plan trail camera locations
Federal trails and motor routes
Enable Public trails for the regional pilot covering Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa and Illinois, plus nearby territory inside the pilot bounds. It combines federal USFS, BLM, NPS and USGS inventories, including Forest Service motor routes.
Tap a route for available name, allowed uses, seasons, agency and source details. This is not a complete inventory of state, county or private trails. Check current closures and permissions with the manager; viewed trail tiles are cached offline.
Check trails and legal access
Vegetation, water and terrain
Explore 2025 land cover and tree canopy, 2024 vegetation type and height, forest type and ownership, vegetation loss, and 2025 USDA crops. Add wetlands, streams, springs or watersheds to understand the landscape.
Compare SSURGO soils, ecoregions, contours, elevation tint, hillshade, slope and aspect. Wildfire hazard potential, current wildfires and historic fire perimeters add context. Dataset dates and coverage vary; live identification and refreshed fire information need a connection. These maps do not establish current ground conditions or access.
Compare terrain and cover
Lidar and terrain scouting
Switch between topo and aerial imagery, then add lidar-derived hillshade to examine ridges, drainages and benches before walking them.
The experimental Trail finder processes lidar on your device in two supported Wisconsin survey areas. Candidates are unverified clues, not mapped public trails or a promise of access. New analysis needs a connection; saved candidates remain available offline.
Scout with terrain and imagery
Offline maps and saved data
Open the map online first. Tiles you view are cached automatically; saved pins and tracks stay available without a connection. There is no bulk area-download button.
Pan across your route at the zoom levels you will use, then test in airplane mode before leaving. Browser storage can be cleared or evicted. Fresh weather and live layer identification need the network; cached layer imagery can be reused.
Prepare your map for offline use
Weather, wind, sun and moon
Read wind direction, gusts, temperature and hourly weather for the map center. See sunrise, sunset and moon information alongside the forecast.
Weather needs a connection to refresh; the last cached forecast can be shown offline. Sun and moon calculations run locally. Civil twilight is not a determination of legal shooting hours.
